Strike Anywhere emerged in 1999 from Richmond, VA. Vocalist Thomas Barnett (ex-Inquisition), guitarists Matt Smith and Matt Sherwood, bassist Garth Petrie (ex-Count Me Out), and drummer Eric Kane took a staunchly political and activism-minded glide track to hardcore and punk traditionalism, drafting comparisons in both reasoned and vision to such stalwart acts of the Apostles as Avail and 7 Seconds. After an initial EP, Chorus of One, Strike Anywhere (named such later on an old Inquisition song) joined up with Jade Tree, which issued Change Is a Sound in August 2001. Exit English followed in 2003, and the rarities collection To Live in Discontent in January 2005. Strike Anywhere dependent up with Fat Wreck Chords for their next full-length, Dead FM, released in June 2006. Tours both nursing nursing home and overseas followed through and through the adjacent yr; Sherwood amicably parted ways with the ringing in March 2007 to be able to decide down at home.

A side project for Bewitched vocalist/guitarist Marcus E. Norman, Sweden's Ancient Wisdom (originally simply plain Ancient, but that name was already taken by a Norwegian ring) bucked the usual trends of Scandinavian death/black metal with their very melodic, comparatively slow and haunting compositions. Formed in 1992, the band likewise featured guitar player Andreas Nilsson, bassist Frederik Jacobson keyboard player Jens Ryden and drummer Ulf and issued their issue one demos "In the Eye of the Serpent" and "Through Rivers of the Eternal Blackness" in short thereafter. Obsessed with aspects of Viking history and mythology, Ancient Wisdom's atmospherical debut For Snow Covered the Northland eventually adage the idle of day in 1996 (though it had been recorded iI years in the beginning). By so, Norman was the only odd original beau member, and decided to retain full control of the band from that point forrad, starting with 1997's The Calling and onward with 2000's รข€¦And the Physical Shape of Light Bled. A follow-up, tentatively entitled Universal Annihilation is presently in the workings and scheduled for release in later 2002.

End bad movie sequels, says mag

Hollywood always seems to have some other sequel up its sleeve, butEntertainment Weekly hascalled for producers to pull the plug on 14 moving-picture show franchises it says have run out of gas.

First on the list was The Mummy. The third and up-to-the-minute installment in the franchise, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, which stars Brendan Fraser, had an opening weekend about US$10 jillion below pundits forecasts more than a week agone when it made US$40.5 million.

On its second weekend, it dropped a walloping 60 pct to US$16.5 million, and only 11 percent of critics on the web site RottenTomatoes.com had givenTomb a favourable evaluation.

Entertainment Weekly said the latest pic comes "octet long years" after the last installment and that the franchise "should have stayed in its tomb".

The latest Indiana Jones pic, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, has made a whopping US$776 million worldwide since it opened in May.

But thats not enough to lag off the Entertainment Weekly pundits. They called the movie "monotonous" and aforementioned they would only be interested if Indys pa, played by Sean Connery, makes a comeback.

Also on the list was the Austin Powers dealership. The mag said comedian Mike Myers style "became all overly predictable with its two sequels," before the third movie Austin Powers in Goldmember came out in 2002.

Myers as well had out The Love Guru this summer, which bombed at box offices.

Other picture franchises on the Entertainment Weekly heel were American Pie, Bring It On, Saw, Friday the 13th, and spoofs in the style of 2000s Scary Movie.

* Is Hollywood lacking ideas? Are there whatsoever movies you'd like to see a sequel for? Post your comments at a lower place.

Ledger theatre to be built in Perth

Perth, Australia, is getting a new landmark: an $87-million US, 575-seat auditorium named for a native son, the Heath Ledger Theatre, People.com reports.

Western Australia state Premier Alan Carpenter said at a dedication ceremony yesterday that the name was appropriate, given how supportive the late actor had always been for fellow young performers, the Associated Press reports.

Heath Ledger was totally dedicated to the craft of being an actor and thats what made him successful, Carpenter said. I think what were doing is continuing that support for young people who want to make a career in the arts and acting, stage and in film, whatever it happens to be.
Kim Ledger, the actors father, called the tribute a pleasant surprise.

He was such a giver to the arts right across the board. I really feel that theres not a lot of things hed put his name to, but hed put his name to that, Kim Ledger told The Associated Press, who attended yesterdays ceremony.

Eddie Murphy to return as "Beverly Hills Cop"

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - If Indiana Jones can make a successful comeback after almost 20 years, why not the Beverly Hills Cop?

Paramount Pictures has given the go-ahead for a fourth installment of its "Beverly Hills Cop" franchise, with Eddie Murphy on board to return to the role that launched his movie career, the studio said on Thursday.

Brett Ratner, the filmmaker behind the similarly themed "Rush Hour" movies starring Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan, is in negotiations to direct the latest "Beverly Hills Cop" adventure, a Paramount spokesman said.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura ("Transformers") will produce.

The film is expected to begin filming next year for a summer 2010 release.

According to Daily Variety, it was Murphy, 47, who approached the Viacom Inc-owned studio about reviving the film series in which he plays a Detroit police detective, Axel Foley, who ends up chasing crooks in Beverly Hills, California.

The original 1984 film and its two sequels, the last of which opened in 1994, collectively grossed more than $735 million in theaters worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. The first movie alone took in over $316 million globally.

The decision to make "Beverly Hills Cop IV" follows Paramount's success with the revival of its "Indiana Jones" franchise after 19 years. The fourth film in that series, "The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," opened last Thursday and grossed nearly $152 million in its first five days in domestic release.

Murphy's last two films, the live-action comedy "Norbit" and the animated storybook satire "Shrek the Third," in which he supplied the voice of a talking donkey, grossed $159 million and $799 million worldwide, respectively, according to Box Office Mojo.
